In this section you can edit and create a category

For reporting purposes unTill uses a hierarchy. This way you can easily group certain articles and show specific information. At the top level of this hierarchy are the categories, for example Food, Beverages, Recreation, etc.
The second hierarchy level divides a category into groups. These groups are used to specify the VAT for all articles assigned to the group
Because groups are still a rather broad division, departments divide them into even smaller parts
To each department you then assign articles and/or combi deals, so you can easily filter in POS which articles are shown by selecting a department

Categories overview

❶ → buttons and actions that apply for the whole page

❷ → checkboxes that indicate which category is selected, enable/disable the top most checkbox to select/deselect all categories

❸ → drop down to allow you to choose which columns are visible

❹ → in the actions column you can indicate what you want to do the selected category

Pressto return to the Products overview page
Press the icon to be able to enter a search string to quickly find the category you are looking for
When you pressan MS Excel file containing all the categories is created and downloaded to the PC’s download folder
- The export is created based on the data as it is shown at the moment of the export
  - If you don’t have the column ‘Location’ visible in the overview, this data will also not be in the export
Press the icon to create a new category
Press the icon to deactivate the selected categories
When the deactivated categories are visible you can re-activate the selected, deactivated categories by pressing this button
Press this button to refresh the data
Show deleted Categories → when the slider is enabled, deleted/deactivated categories are shown in the list
- Categories that are present in multiple locations but haven’t been deactivated in all locations can be recognised by an orange indicator
- Categories that have been deactivated can be recognised by the red indicator at the end, when group locations is enabled this means that this applies to all locations
Group locations → when the slider is enabled the categories that are in multiple locations are shown in one line. When the slider is disabled categories are displayed in a separate line per each location
- E.g. Category A is present in location 1 and 2
  - Slider enabled:
    - Location 1, Location 2 Category A
  - Slider disabled:
    - Location 1 Category A
    - Location 2 Category A

Show columns → when this button is displayed not all columns are visible. Click the button to be able to select the columns that you want to have visible
Hide columns → when this button is displayed all columns are visible. Click the button to be able to hide columns
- Press ‘Reset’ to return the visibility of the columns to default
You can also adjust the width of each column
- Move the mouse cursor in the header row of the columns until it changes to the size modifier icon
- Click and hold the mouse button while dragging the icon to the left or right

The sequence in which the data is presented in a column can be adjusted by usingnext to the column heading
- The button turns blue when you hover over it with your mouse, otherwise it’s grey
- This is the default way in which the button is displayed
  - Indicates that the info in the corresponding column is not rearranged in a different sequence than the default. However, another column may be rearranged which causes this column to also be in a different sequence
- This indicates that the data in the column is set to display in an ascending order (e.g. 1-2-3-4, a-b-c-d. etc)
- This indicates that the data in the column is set to diplay in a descending order (4-3-2-1, z-y-x-w, etc)

This example clip is adjusting the sequence of a column in a generated report, the same principle applies to this category frontpage

You can also apply a filter to some columns. The conditions you enter in the filter determine what is shown in the column
Pressto apply to the corresponding column
A drop down menu appears
- You can choose to filter by location❶
  - Enable/disable the checkbox for the locations you want to view/hide and press ‘Filter’
  - Use ‘Clear’to reset the filter to default
- And/or set a number of other conditions❷
  - Use the drop down menu to choose the conditions you want to set
  - In the second field you can either enter a number or text (depends on the first condition you have set)
  - You can also set a second condition
    - Se the third field to ‘And’ to apply both conditions
    - Set the third field to ‘Or’ to apply one or the other
    - Fill the bottom fields with the other conditions in the same way as the first two fields
  - Press ‘Filter’ to apply the conditions to the column
  - Use ‘Clear’ to reset the filter to default

Category settings

In the column labeled ‘Actions’❶ you can press small icon buttons to indicate what you want to do with the category in the corresponding line
- Press this button to edit the category in the corresponding line
  - Note that whenis in front of the category name, it indicates that changes to the category were done earlier but that they haven’t been started and/or executed yet. You can check out the task planner to see/change what is planned to be changed for the category
- Press this button to duplicate the selected category with all its settings. You are redirected to edit category so you can alter the category’s details
  - Note that all settings can be the same as long as the name is unique
- Press this button to unify the category in the corresponding line across all locations. This is basically the same as duplicating a category, only now you are creating the category with the exact same settings on all locations. You are redirected to edit category here you can see that you are editing the category for all locations
- Press this button to deactivate the category in the corresponding line
  - Press this button to activate the deactivated category in the corresponding line
- Press this button to see pop up showing you in which locations the corresponding category is active or not❷From this pop up you can also start unification of the category by pressing

Edit category

❶→ you can see the name of the category you are editing

Whenis next to the category name it indicates that changes for this category were done earlier but that these were not started/executed yet. You can checkout the task planner to see/edit the changed that are planned for the category
With you return to the category overview, when you already made some changes a pop up appears informing you that there are unsaved changes
- Pressto discard the changes and return to the category overview without changes to the category
- Pressto stay in the edit form
Withyou can go to the following category in the overview list without having to return to category overview
Withyou can go the previous category in the overview list without having to return to the category overview
Withyou can refresh the page

❷→ you can see for which locations you are making changes to the category

Pressto be able to select available locations for which you are going to edit the category
You can also press one of the shortcuts (notice the change of location(s) you are editing for)
- All → you will be editing for all locations where the category is present
- Active → you will be editing for all active locations where the category is present
- Deactivated → you will be editing for all deactivated locations where the category is present
- Existing → you will be editing for all existing locations
- Unified → you will be editing for all new locations
When you are editing for multiple locations the buttonmay appear in some fields you are editing. When you press this button you can view the differences and similarities for the corresponding field across the locations
- (Primary) behind the location that this is the category’s primary location, all unifications are based on this location
- When you press Replace for all the data in the primary location’s corresponding field is entered for all locations
- When you press Replace with primary the data in the primary location’s corresponding field is also entered for this location

❸→ click Expand ∨ to be able to unify or disable the category on other locations, use Collapse ∧ to hide the section

When expanded this shows you the number of locations that are showing of the total, in the example❸it shows 2 locations of the total of 2 locations
You can use the shortcuts to indicate which locations you wan tot have showing
- Show all → all locations are shown
- Show active → only locations where the category is active are shown
- Show inactive → only locations where the category is deactivated and/or non-existent are shown
You can also select predefined criteria sets so you don’t have to select the same locations over and over again
By enabling one or more location sliders you indicate that you are going to unify or disable the category on the corresponding locations, disabling sliders will do the opposite
The colours in which sliders, or buttons indicate the corresponding status❹

❺→ the category settings you can enter or edit

Name → enter the name by which the category can be easily identified
3rd party ID → here you can enter an ID that can be used by third parties to identify the category. Usually the third party will provide the ID you need to enter here

Finish editing

Complete creating or editing a category with the following buttons:

press this button to check whether creating or editing the category doesn’t cause any errors

press this button to save the changes and get redirected to the task planner to schedule when these changes will be executed on the POS system(s)

press this button to save and plan the changes immediately, you can change scheduling as long as the task has not been executed yet

press this button to undo all the changes you made during this editing

Deactivate category

When you pressedto deactivate a category, a pop up opens. This shows which category you are going to deactivate and the locations where the category can no longer be used❶
- When the category locations are grouped, the category will be deactivated on all locations
- When the category locations aren’t grouped, you need to deactivate the category one location at a time
Default the task to deactivate the category is scheduled immediately, you can use the calendar and clock❷to set another date and time for when the task will be executed
Pressto save and plan the task to deactivate the category

Restore category

When you pressfor a deactivated category a pop up opens. This shows which category you are going to activate and the locations where the category will be available again
- When the category locations are grouped, the category will be activated on all locations
- When the category locations aren’t grouped, you need to activate the category one location at a time
Pressto set the task to activate the category
- This task is always executed as soon as possible
